PROJECT: NECT District Interventions: Bohlabela, Mpumalanga and Bojanala, North West
CLIENT: National Education Collaboration Trust
VALUE: Inception Phase: R13m
DURATION: August 2014 – March 2015
The NECT is a national response to the challenges in South African education. It was formulated to implement the goals of the National Development Plan of South Africa.
Together with PwC (hyperlink), PSA(hyperlink) and Penreach(hyperlink), Class Act is part of the PwC Consortium that has been appointed to offer support to the Bohalabela District in Mpumalanga, and to the Bojanala District in the North West.
The Inception Phase involves working with the Districts and with specially selected schools. These schools have been identified as deserving of intensive, focussed support in this phase, in order to offer them a ‘fresh start’.
During the Inception Phase, advocacy or onboarding will be done with all participants, a baseline will be conducted to establish the specific needs of the Districts and the fresh start schools, and a planning process will be completed to develop rollout plans. A series of ‘Quick Wins’ programmes will also be implemented at the Districts and in fresh start schools.
The Inception Phase will be followed by a three year Rollout Phase to implement the rollout plans in all schools in the Districts. In terms of curriculum, this phase will focus on Language and Maths in Primary Schools, and on English, Maths and Science in Secondary Schools.
